Frequently Asked Questions

About our Products
We like to think of them as the best of both worlds.
While traditional workbooks and worksheets are often viewed as busywork—something in which students are to merely copy & paste information from a dry textbook—our products are designed to compliment a much richer learning experience.Â
Geography Kid products are designed be more open-ended, functioning like a scrapbook or a notebooking page. While we do have some guided question slots, students are free to paste in photos, postcards, record their own thoughts and ideas, add drawings or stamps, and choose which landmarks and features they’d like to add to maps.Â
A teacher’s guide is available and can be used as a spine for the entire workbook, or act as a launching point for a much more in-depth unit. The teacher’s guide includes an answer key for the written portions, some brief information on each country or territory, and resources to help teachers customize and expand home or classroom study .Â
Once an area has been thoroughly explored, a completed packet makes not only a beautiful record of the student’s journey, but can serve as a portfolio for home educators.Â
Notebooking is a popular educational method, particularly among home educators. Students record their learning process and observations in their own words in a notebook (blank or lined) or on a themed notebooking page or template. Notebooking often takes on a ‘scrapbooking’ element as students can add drawings or paste in ticket stubs, photos, or postcards.Â
We like to think our products take notebooking to the next level. While our pages remain open to creative expression, we offer a little bit of optional scaffolding for teachers, parents, and students who would like a little more structure or direction.Â
Our notebooking packets work especially well for students who might feel overwhelmed when looking at a blank page.Â
Digital Orders
All our products on Geography Kid are digital downloads. No physical product will be shipped to you.Â
We need your address for billing purposes. Please rest assured, we take your privacy very seriously and never share or sell your information to anyone.
Once you complete checkout, you will be immediately provided a download link to your product(s). You will also be emailed a link to your download(s); please check your spam folder if you don’t immediately see your receipt. You can also check your download and order history on your account page. If you still haven’t received your purchase, please contact us.
Our digital products are delivered as compressed ZIP files which need to be opened or extracted to get to your actual files. This is easiest to do on a desktop or laptop computer.Â
You may still choose to download your orders on a mobile device, but we don’t recommend it and can’t offer as much support if you get stuck. If you can’t find or access your files on your mobile device, we recommend signing into your Geography Kid account on a desktop or laptop and re-downloading your purchases from your “My Account” page.Â
We deliver your purchases in a ZIP file. A ZIP file is a way to compress large documents for easier and faster download. Our notebooking packets and workbooks are very large and may take a while to download.
We recommend downloading your ZIP files on a desktop or laptop computer rather than a mobile device.
Mac computers usually extract the contents of the ZIP file for you and place the content folders in your downloads folder or on your desktop, depending on your chosen or default preferences.
On PC computers, open File Explorer and find the zipped folder. It will look like a folder with a zipper on it. Right click the folder and select “Extract All,” then follow the instructions.
Once your files are unzipped, you will need a program that can open PDF files. Preview comes pre-installed on Macs and can help you open and print the files. Mac and PC users can install Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) to view and print PDF documents.
There is currently no limit to the number of times you can download your digital product. This may change if we find the feature is being abused.
Please understand, sharing, distributing, or re-selling our digital products violates our terms and conditions and can lead to legal action. Thank you for respecting our copyright.Â
In your print settings, you can opt to print one page at a time, or select a range, rather than printing the entire book at once. This flexibility allows teachers and parents to fully customize a unit or course.Â
We highly recommend you print any photo and flag pages in full color.Â
While the regular notebooking packet pages are designed with some color accents, they have been designed to print nicely in black and white as well.Â
Many users opt to have their notebooking packet or workbook printed at a print shop and either pre-punched (drilled) for a three-ring binder, or bound in one big book. It’s completely up to you.Â
If you opt to have a printer bind the book for you, discuss your best options with them based on the number of pages in the file. We recommend a coil, comb, or spiral wire binding that will allow the book to lay flat when open. Â
If nothing happens when you click the download link, there may be an issue with your web browser. Please disable any extensions, add-ons, and toolbars, and try again.Â
If you receive a pop-up message that the file has been corrupted, please delete the file and re-download.Â
If you can’t find the downloaded file, check your browser and/or computer download settings. We recommend setting downloads to save to your desktop rather than a downloads folder that might be difficult to locate.Â
If your computer is unable to open the file, you may need to extract it from its ZIP file first. If a Mac computer doesn’t automatically extract it, double click the ZIP file. On a PC, right click and select “Extract All.”
If you can’t view the files once the ZIP file is open, you may be missing software that can view PDF files. Download & install Adobe Acrobat Reader for free.Â
If you continue to have trouble, please contact us for assistance.
Printing Questions
Printing the whole book in color can be costly (though it sure looks pretty). Here are some ways to economize.
- The full PDFs contain blank pages for formatting purposes. When getting a quote from a print shop, make sure they aren’t charging you for the blank sheets.
- If you have access to a black and white printer, print the country pages (worksheet + map page) yourself and simply send the photo and flag sheets in the back to be printed in COLOR at a print shop. You can also skip printing the flag sheets opting to color the black and white outline flags on the worksheets (as shown in example images) instead.
- If you’re having the whole thing printed at a print shop, give the following instructions:
- Skip the extraneous pages we had to include for legal/copyright reasons, such as the back and front covers, the table of contents, the photo credits, and copyright info.
- Have them print the country pages (check your PDF and give them the page numbers) in black and white.
- Have them print the photo and flag sheets in COLOR, (check your PDF and give the page numbers) on single pages (not double-sided). Or, as above, only print the photo sheets in color and save the flag sheets as a color reference to be viewed on a computer or tablet.
- You can also opt to only print a handful of countries to work on before printing the next batch.
- If you have access to a good pile of magazines such as National Geographic and can find pictures to paste into the “Meet the people” sections on your own, you can choose to forego printing our included photo sheets.
Some clever customers have figured out how to load the PDFs onto an iPad or other tablet and use a drawing program to complete the worksheets without printing. We haven’t tested this out, so can’t offer any tips, but if you have a tablet and someone techy you can ask, let us know how it goes!
We will have consumable, single-use workbooks with perforated sheets available on Amazon soon. They’ll start at $29.95. If you’re interested in these, drop us a message and we can let you know when they’re available.Â
